22 weeks

You will have to excuse me. I am a little slow on my roll this week. I was sick last week. Between the nausea and the headaches and the body aches and the general exhaustion absolutely nothing got done. Including blogging but not Facebook. I would have to be almost dead for that. HA HA HA So here we go on week 22!

We decided on a name for this little guy. His name will be Wyatt Larry. Wyatt just because we like the name. Larry after his grandfather. So from now on I will most likely be referring to our bouncing baby boy as Wyatt. Unless something catastrophic happens and we change his name. But then I don't foresee anything wild happening.

Wyatt and I are doing well. This week he is the size of a papaya. Which means very little to me as I have never had one before. So I have no idea how big that is. LOL But it means he is roughly 11 inches long. Almost a whole foot now! His face is fully formed. Which we got to see at the ultrasound. It was really neat how she could look closely to make sure he did not have a cleft lip. He is slowly growing hair on his head and his eye lashes and eye brows. Let's hope he has a full head of dark hair like Bryan did. Babies are so cute when they come out with a little mop on their heads. But now that I said that he will come out bald as a cue ball. HA HA HA

It is getting more and more difficult for me to get around. Bending over to tie my shoes is just getting ridiculous. I looked for some back less shoes but have not found any I liked so far. Backless or no laces or what ever I don't care. I just remember how nice it was to have the backless tennis shoes while pregnant with Bryan. Getting up from chairs or off the couch requires a pregnancy groan. LOL Everything requires a pregnancy groan! I have my days where I feel very large and other days where I feel pretty normal.

Wyatt has been kicking up a storm. He has always been a very active baby. At every ultrasound the technician commented on how much he moves. I started to feel him moving pretty early on. The stronger he gets the stronger the kicks get. Which is humorous most of the time. And down right painful other times. LOL Ethan was resting his head in my lap this evening. The sound of his voice must have woke Wyatt up and got him wiggling. It started with nudges. Wyatt would put what I assume was his foot on my belly right next to Ethan's head and slowly push out. Then the nudges turned into kicks. Ethan did not feel the kicks but he did say that he could hear a little thud when Wyatt kicked. It was pretty funny. And how cool is it that little Wyatt is responding to his daddy's voice already?! Pretty darn cool I think.

Here is my 22 week picture. My belly is getting bigger and I look more and more pregnant. I am even starting to get the sweet smiles from little old ladies as they pass me by. There is of course always the half blind and deaf old man who seems to see nothing but the next aisle and has no problem running us all over. But for the most part it's nice people smiling and offering a little extra help.

Ultrasound time!

We had our ultrasound today! It went perfectly. Except for the part where I had to pee so bad I was practicing labor breathing and trying not to tinkle on the table. That tech was nice enough to let me get up and pee about halfway through. Everything looks great and baby is very healthy. Baby is measuring 1 week ahead of my due date but the doctor decided to just leave my due date where it is. Everything is measuring well and the baby weighs 1 pound 1 ounce. Which is also a tad big for this week but I am not complaining. All of the body parts were there and looked great. We got a close up look at hand, feet, legs, arms, the brain, the spine and my favorite part the heart. It was fantastic to see all four chambers of the heart moving just they way they should be. Baby's heart rate was 158 bpm which is a very good strong heart rate. It was great to see the baby moving around and flipping back and forth. It was really neat to see the baby about to kick me and then BAM feeling the kick just as you see it hit the side of my uterus in the picture. The placenta is on the top and the back of my uterus. Which would explain why I am so easily feeling the baby kick. The placenta looked good and we even got to see the blood flow through the umbilical cord. So everything looks great and it was a lot of fun to get to see baby and get some new pictures.

Then there was the fun part. We got to see the gender of the baby. I had a feeling several times that I could see what sex the baby was. But I didn't want to say. I am not the professional. I could be wrong. But nope I was right. I saw what I saw and this baby is a BOY!!!

We are having a baby boy! I am the mother of not one son but two sons! While it would have been nice to have a little girl it is also great to have another boy. I have already been raising a little boy. I know how to take care of baby boys. There is a certain comfort level there. And it means we get another chance to try for a girl next time. LOL

I am still doing well. I lost a few more pounds since my last appointment. Which I will be honest I was a bit stunned over. My appetite has been through the roof and I feel like I am constantly eating. But I am now down 18 pounds with out even trying. I don't know if it is all the water I am drinking or if my metabolism has just finally kicked into gear for once. What ever the reason is I am not only not gaining weight but I am losing weight and hopefully in the end that will help me avoid gestational diabetes or high blood pressure. So far my blood pressure is still good. Let's hope it stays that way. But the way this pregnancy is going I am not to worried about it. Unless there becomes a reason to worry I will not worry.

Baby is head down now. Hopefully he stays that way so that I can try for a VBAC. It will still be a few weeks before we know for sure. And the way this kid wiggles and squirms it is always a concern for me. So fingers crossed that baby stays head down until delivery.

So everything looks great. Baby boy and I are both doing well. I go back in 4 weeks for my next appointment. Then at 28 weeks I will do the glucose testing and hopefully pass with flying colors. I am so glad the ultrasound is done and I can once again relax and enjoy this pregnancy.

20 weeks Half Way There!!!

I am 20 weeks pregnant today. We have reached the half way point! I am halfway through my pregnancy. Only 20 more weeks left give or take a few obviously. Bryan was 3 weeks early. So I am still shooting for some time in June. While a July 4th baby would be uber sweet I would really like to stick in the June range. Anyway we are halfway to our baby coming into the world. I am so excited!!!

It is a wonderful feeling to make it this far and have baby and I both so healthy. So far there have been no complications and no health issues. Baby is growing more and more every day. He/she is now the size of a cantaloupe. Yes you read that correctly a cantaloupe. Another article I read said they are currently the length of a banana from head to toe! Baby is getting big and so are the kicks. He/she has been moving non stop every single day. The second I sit down the baby starts moving around. Every morning after I get Bryan off to school and Ethan off to work the baby starts moving and a shaking. It's like dance party USA in my uterus. I hope this isn't a clue into this baby's sleep schedule when he/she comes out. Mama is not a morning person sweet pea so learn how to sleep in. LOL But I do enjoy the show every morning. It is fun to feel the baby twisting and turning and flipping over and punching and kicking. Oh the kicking! One minute I will be getting my bladder kicked like crazy and then I feel the baby flip over and then my belly button is getting kicked and then FLIP back to my bladder. And it is a double edged sword cause when the baby is kicking my bladder I have to PEE. But when the baby is head down and kicking my belly button he/she keeps kicking the scar tissue from my surgery in August of last year. So that can be a little sore and painful jabs. But feeling the baby moving around is the most amazing feeling and I will gladly take the painful bumps from now until June. But if July comes around baby you will be receiving an eviction notice. So don't get to comfortable like Kimmy's baby did. LOL

I have read that the baby has working taste buds now. He/she can taste the food that I have eaten recently in my amniotic fluid. What I eat now will decide what things the baby likes after birth. I get the feeling this baby is going to like KFC mashed potatoes (yes I am on another potato kick) and steak. I guess that would explain why Bryan likes corn so much. I LOVE CORN! So I better bone up on my veggies that I enjoy so I can keep buying them when baby is bigger. This child will have a love for asparagus I promise you that! And steak cause lets face it when I am pregnant nothing sounds better then a big bloody steak. I was that way with Bryan and I am totally that way with this baby. Which is good considering we have a hamburger farm. (That was what Bryan used to say when people would ask what kind of farm we had.)

We are now less then a week away from the big ultrasound! I can not wait! I am going completely crazy I tell you! Next week I will hopefully be able to use he or she not both or it. I may even start using the baby's name too. Oh course everybody called Bryan by his girl name Morgan before he was born. So it was a bit weird to make the change over from Morgan to Bryan. Maybe I should have just left his name Morgan. It would have worked both ways right? LOL Anyway we are hoping to have an answer soon and we pretty much have names picked out. A girl's name for sure and most likely a boy's name. I guess if we see a little hot dog down there on Thursday then we will have to start deciding for sure. I can't wait to see! Of course I am looking forward to seeing that the baby is healthy and hopefully everything is measuring right. I look forward to seeing the baby's heart beating and getting to see all 4 chambers. That was the part that made me cry during Bryan's ultrasound. Considering my family history on my father's side it is the BIGGEST relief to see a healthy strong beating heart from my babies. I am probably gonna cry again this time. I just want them to be healthy and strong. Bryan is and I will continue to pray every day that this baby is too.

So here is my halfway point pic. My baby belly is getting big and my coworkers are commenting on how I finally look pregnant. WOOHOO!
